Capt. Tork Buckley, yachting journalist, dies

Capt. Tork Buckley died on December 29 after a battle with cancer. He was living in Thailand.


Capt. Buckley was founder and senior consultant of Big Blue Consulting. The company Web site said he was born in Scotland and sailed since since he was young. He became a professional captain in 1989 and worked on motor and sailing yachts from 47 to more than 200 feet. He held a UK MCA masteryacht license and served as build and refit representative in Turkey on the Proteksan build of the 50m M/Y Mosaique.


Buckley was editor of The Yacht Report from 2005 to 2010, Asia editor of The Superyacht Report, contributing editor to The Crew Report and SuperYacht Design and consulting Editor for The Yacht Report Group, according to the site.
