Merritt wins Golden Anchor award

Roy Merritt of Merritt’s Boat & Engine Works in Pompano Beach was honored with the Golden Anchor Award from the Marine Industries Association of South Florida in June. The award honors a lifetime of industry contribution and achievement.

Merritt’s family business began in the late 1940s by his grandfather, Franklin “Roy” Merritt. His father Allen Merritt also works in the business.

The yard began building tuna sportfishing boats in 1955 and with them, a reputation for quality work and honest dealings. The company now builds yachts up to 86 feet.
