Mercury Marine has introduced new 75, 90 and 115hp FourStroke outboards. The engines offer power, thrust, fuel economy, reliability, smooth, quiet operation and are lightweight and compact.
The FourStrokes are 20 pounds lighter than the closest four-stroke competition with a 2.1-liter, four-cylinder, eight-valve, single-overhead-cam. The hydrodynamically designed standard gearcase decreases drag by 15 percent.
The Mercury Command Thrust gearcase option works for heavier boats or boats that tend to run “wet” (more hull surface remaining in contact with the water after its planed). The Command Thrust models use the same gearcase housing as the Mercury 150 FourStroke, but with 2.38:1 ratio. Another option is the 115hp Command Thrust model with left-hand rotation for dual-engine installations. The new engine lineup has a tightly sealed top cowl and idle relief muffler system to lessen high-frequency exhaust noise and the Focused Mount System reduces vibration.
The new Fourstroke outboards feature anti-corrosion protection from XK360 low-copper alloy, stainless steel components and the MercFusion paint process. Mercury backs up its corrosion protection with an industry-exclusive three-year factory-backed limited warranty.
These outboards come with a lifetime maintenance-free valve train, no-mess oil-change system, no-tools-required fuel filter, color-coded maintenance locators and an up-front freshwater valve flush system and a QR code that links the user via smartphone to a Mercury mobile site that provides a series of how-to maintenance videos, troubleshooting tips, a dealer locator and a hotline to Mercury Marine.
