Thunderbolt opens lounge

Thunderbolt Marine in Savannah, Ga., has converted a house across the street from the front gate as a crew lounge. The Crew Lounge officially opened April 17.

The house has been used by TMI over the years, including as offices for founder Bill Honey and current owner Bill Honey, Jr., the founder’s son. More recently, the canvas and upholstery shop was there, but it has been relocated when the space was dedicated for crew.

“It has truly been a team effort on the part of all TMI employees,” said Judy Salzman, marketing director for the yard. “Our craftsmen have added some truly special touches.”

TMI is proud to make The Crew Lounge available to crew members of yacht at Thunderbolt Marine for service. We understand the importance of a place to get off the boat for a while. We’ve created an inviting, fun and comfortable space for crew to exercise in the gym, play pool, darts or Foosball, watch a movie, take care of laundry when on board facilities are not available or have a cookout on the back deck. Check out photos on Facebook. Check back for TMI’s new and improved website … coming mid-May.
