Phuket to host Thailand Yacht Show

The Phuket Yacht Show has been renamed the Thailand Yacht Show and is scheduled for Feb. 11-14 at Phuket’s Ao Po Grand Marina. It is being organized by SYE Pte Ltd, which also stages the annual Singapore Yacht Show each April.
The announcement was made aboard the 41m M/Y Ocean Emerald, the first yacht to get the country’s new Superyacht Charter Licence. The new licence provides Thailand and the Asia-Pacific region with a tool in its quest to become a global yachting destination.
“This year already, over 75 superyachts cruised through Phuket alone,” Chula Sukmanop, director general of the Thailand Marine Department, told the Phuket News. “We want to encourage these yachts to stay for longer and use it as a base from which to charter, and we want more and more of them to come.”
Ao Po Grand Marina has a capacity of 260 yachts up to 100m or more in length.
