Med PSC starts inspections

The Paris MoU on Port State Control will begin a three-month campaign on Sept. 1 to verify compliance with working and living conditions on board ships, as spelled out in the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006.

The Concentrated Inspection Campaign, which ends Nov. 30, expects to inspect 4,500 ships.

During the campaign, PSC officers will use a list of 12 questions to ensure the required certificates and documentation are onboard. Additional questions will verify records of the inspections of the accommodation, food and catering, and whether a safety committee has been established.
