Marine industry raises more than $61,000 at Spinathon

Nearly 250 marine industry professionals, community supporters and fitness enthusiasts took part in the Spin-a-thon, a four-hour, non-stop spinning fundraiser for the Marine Industry Cares Foundation. The event raised more than $61,000 for MICF’s youth STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) programs and its charitable giving initiatives.

“It was a high energy and fun-filled event from start to finish,” said David Reed, chairman of MICF and chairman of Triton Publishing Group. “Everyone who donated, came out to ride or who helped as fundraisers should know that their contributions will make a difference to the MICF youth programs and to the children and families helped by our partners at Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center and Kids In Distress.”

Since its inception, the Spin-a-thon and other MICF events have raised more than $900,000 to support STEM youth programs, and children and families in need in South Florida.
