Gov. Norraphat Plodthong of Phuket met in May with Indonesian Tourism Minister Arief Yahya to discuss marine tourism relations between the two countries, reports the Phuket Gazette.

According to the Gazette, plans were revealed to run a special campaign between Nov. 8 and Dec. 5 to assist tourists in traveling between Phuket and Sabang, Indonesia. The governor said a memorandum also is in the works to promote marine relations between Langkawi, Malaysia; Phuket, Thailand; and Sabang, Indonesia, as per the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Agreement.

“This discussion should be of benefit to those vessels cruising between Phuket and Sabang, Indonesia,” Gordon Fernandes, of Asia Pacific Superyachts Phuket, said in a statement. The company has full-service hubs for superyachts in the three regions. APS teams are in place and ready to support the government campaign, Fernandes said.
