Martek Marine has appointed Paul Forster to oversee its UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) operations. Forster brings more than 30 years of aviation experience to Martek as the company positions itself for leadership in the booming drone industry.

Forster began his career as a flight instructor and professional pilot, then served as joint-CEO of Cabair, where he managed nine flying schools throughout the U.K. as well as the company’s commercial helicopter division.

At Cabair, he helped launch the first full-time independent air ambulance operation, carrying out life-saving organ flights on a 24/7 basis and providing emergency helicopter services for many high-profile events, including both the Bahrain and Silverstone Formula One Grand Prix races.

Forster later became operations director at Sloane Helicopters, where he established an air ambulance service and managed the company’s flying school.

As a CAA Form 4 holder (a certified accountable manager for both fixed-wing and rotary commercial operations), Forster has extensive knowledge of aviation regulations and operational procedures. His experience includes aviation management services around the world and global aircraft sales.
