Jul 10, 2017 by Melissa McMahon

Large yachts headed to New England this summer can now call on Danfords Marina in Port Jefferson, N.Y. The recently renovated marina now accommodates yachts up to 320 feet, with 12 out of 90 slips available to yachts more than 80 feet. As part of the marina’s overhaul, it was dredged last year to a depth of 20 feet, with the shallowest point now 12 feet.

Danfords is a full-service marina with 480v power, pump out, in-slip high-speed fueling, free Wi-Fi, secured docks, a crew lounge, fitness center and bicycles. There are also an onsite hotel, a salon and spa, and a restaurant with private dining. Restaurant orders can be delivered slip-side for yacht guests and crew, and catering is available.

The marina is 40 miles from New York City; 60 miles from Montauk, N.Y.; 70-75 miles from Block Island and Newport, R.I.; and 130 miles from Nantucket Island.

Behind the marina and within walking distance is the the town of Port Jefferson, with shops, bars, restaurants, museums and more. The hills of Pirates Cove, to the left when entering the harbor, are a short tender ride away and offer views of Long Island Sound.
