New spin on flip flops

A new company in Sandy Hook, Conn., is making flip flops with interchangeable soles, including a version with felt-bottomed treads for boaters to wear on board.

FlipRocks feature an elevated toe guard, a removable and adjustable support strap, and customizable soles with varying grips. Options include an off-road tread suitable for hiking, a tread with stainless steel spikes for extra traction in rivers and other slippery surfaces, and a felt-bottomed tread created for boaters.

Once the treads wear down, they can be replaced with any choice of new treads.

“Because of the durable design, the rugged construction materials and the replaceable gripping pads, a pair of FlipRocks could potentially be the last pair of flip flops an outdoor enthusiast ever needs to buy,” Anthony Graffeo, CEO of FlipRocks, stated in a company news release.
