The Marine Industry Cares Foundation in South Florida has organized a fundraiser to help refill the food pantry of a local children’s charity.

MICF is calling on 1,000 South Florida marine businesses and customers to donate $10 each in an effort to raise $10,000 for the Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center’s food bank. Click here to make a donation.

Several South Florida business owners have already accepted the challenge. Dean duToit, owner of National Marine Suppliers, has pledged $10 for each of its employees. Lisa Morley of Maritime Professional Training has done the same.

“Why are we doing $10? Because $10 makes a difference,” said David Reed, immediate past chairman of MICF. The Triton donated $10 to National Marine’s fundraiser last year to put the company’s three-year total raised and donated for breast cancer research at over $250,000. “Just $10, if we all step up and do it, makes a difference.”

Other companies that have donated so far include Palladium Technologies, Ward’s Marine Electric, Bluewater USA, and The Triton.
