The U.S. Customs and Border Protection has reported severe damage to airports and ports in the U.S. Virgin Islands due to Hurricane Irma.

Airports and ports in St. Thomas and St. John have been closed since Sept. 5 and remain closed until further notice. The ports of St. Thomas and St. John, however, are receiving cargo via their ports of entry. All ports in Saint Croix are fully operational for air and sea processing of passenger and cargo. This includes Christiansted, Frederiksted and the Preclearance.

All ports within the San Juan Area Port are open for business and fully operational both for passenger processing and international trade. The San Juan Area Port includes the Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport, the San Juan Seaport, and the Ponce, Mayaguez and Fajardo ports of entry.
