Council members in the town of Palm Beach have discussed spending $50,000 for a study to help them decide if they should rebuild the town…
Capt. Chris Shaffner, owner of TowBoatUS Palm Beach, was honored by the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County (MIAPBC) with the Member of the Year Award.
“Capt. Shaffner has been nominated for this award for a couple of years running now, but every time he got wind of it, he insisted we award it to another nominee,” MIAPBC Operations Director Alyssa Freeman stated in a news release. “This year is the first time we have kept our decision a secret until the night of the ceremony, and it paid off.”
Capt. Shaffner was presented with the award at the conclusion of a discussion on Hurricane Irma cleanup effort and salvage operations on Sept. 26 at Sandpiper Cove in North Palm Beach.
MIAPBC Executive Director Chuck Collins noted that Shaffner serves on several committees and organizations, including the governor’s appointed Boating Advisory Council.
“Capt. Shaffner has gone out of his way to selflessly help other association and community members when they really needed it,” Collins stated.
