Butch Weghorst, a longtime employee of Washington-based marine electronics maker Furuno USA, died Nov. 9, the company has reported.

Weghorst, who was Furuno’s Gulf of Mexico regional manager from 1984 to 2016, was a consummate professional and a model for how to sell and support a product line, according to a company statement.

He began his marine electronics career as a U.S. Navy radioman in the 1960s. According to his colleagues, he proudly wore his radioman’s ring in memory of that service.

His history with Furuno included many days spent with product engineers on inland rivers, working to improve short-range target performance on multiple generations of Furuno radars, the company stated.

He is survived by sons Anthony, John and Matthew Weghorst.
