Institute plans employment training conference

Warner University’s Institute of Marine Technology says it is planning a national Marine Industry Training Conference on June 14 in Lake Wales, Florida.

According to a statement from IMT, the training symposium will focus on the future of the marine industry and its career development needs, and seeks to bring together a mix of marine industry associations and business representatives.

“As the lack of quality trained marine personnel becomes more prevalent, we thought it would be important to initiate an open discussion to cross multiple industry platforms, with the goal to address both short- and long-term employment needs,” stated event organizer Justin Maley, administrator of IMT.

The institute offers marine technical training at its full-service 7,000-acre lake and marina facility in central Florida.

“At this stage, we simply wanted to announce the date and invite industry advocates to share ideas for potential agenda inclusion,” Maley stated. Details of the symposium will be finalized in the first quarter of 2018, he said. To discuss or provide conference agenda recommendations, contact Maley at Justin.Maley@warner.edu.
