Everett Pearson, co-founder of Pearson Yachts and a pioneer in fiberglass boat production, died Dec. 24 at the age of 84.

Pearson Yachts was the first company to mass produce fiberglass boats, earning Pearson the title “grandfather of fiberglass production,” Trade Only Today has reported.

It was the widespread adoption of fiberglass as pioneered by Pearson that made recreational boating affordable to the World War II generation and their children.
