Refit18: Show focused on refits grows 28 percent

As yachts age and yacht owners personalize them, the refit industry continues to grow. The third annual Refit International Exhibition & Conference is also growing; this year’s show saw an increase in attendance of 28 percent, according to show organizers. Held at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale on Jan. 10-11, the event featured about 70 exhibitors.

Professional certifications from American Boat Builders & Repairers Association (ABBRA) and Bluewater Crew Training were offered through seminars, and The Triton hosted two special events: a Yacht Owners Panel and a Captains’ Roundtable. Read more in the February Triton issue.

Next year’s show, owned by Professional BoatBuilder magazine, has been scheduled for April 10-11 at same location. For details, visit www.refitshow.com.

While attendance was up this year, the dates for next years show will guarantee it going down. By April, many northern yards are busy, too busy to let their people come south. Also the weather up north is starting to get nice. January and February are the months people from the north want to come south. SO good luck with those new dates.
