Miami18: Sirocco debuts new Fluid RIB at MIBS

Sirocco Marine Fort Lauderdale will unveil its new Fluid Watercraft 1060 at the 2018 Miami International Boat Show on Virginia Key. With its full lineup of Brig and Fluid RIBs, the dealership is expected to display the largest selection of inflatables at any North American boat show in its 6,000-square-foot booth (C206).

At 35 feet, the new Fluid 1060 is the largest offshore-fishing RIB built to date, the company stated. Less expensive and more fuel-efficient than a fiberglass counterpart, the 1060 features double rows of seats, baitwells, a coffin box for keeping fish fresh or provisions cold, rod holders, a bait-cutting table, and a head compartment. It has twin 350-horsepower Yamaha engines to reach a top speed of 70 miles per hour.

The RIB’s modular construction allows each model to be semi-custom.

“Last year, we did all the design and tooling for modular boats,” said Boyd Tomkies, owner of Sirocco Marine Fort Lauderdale. “Owners can choose the components that meet their needs. In the case of this Fluid 1060, we chose the modules that would give us the seating, console and layout we wanted, we plugged those in and added the fishing elements, and then we had our final design.

“Any owner can do that,” he said. “Simply choose components A, B, C; put them together so they fit, see what it looks like, and determine the price.”

A new production facility in Georgia is now in operation to help meet demand.
