New Loggerhead marina property under construction in Dania Beach

Marina development is underway in Dania Beach, Florida, for the new Loggerhead Marina, a facility with 2,400 linear feet of dockage for yachts 100 to 250 feet in length. Edelman Development Corp. of Weston, Florida, began design and permit work about four years ago and partnered with Loggerhead at the end of last summer.

“We’ll have 1,600 feet of floating and 800 feet of fixed docks, and parallel parking for any boat that fits down the canal,” said Ken Edelman, president of Edelman Development. “We’re excavating to 15 feet, with the cut off at 17 for mean low tide.”

The marina is designed to offer a variety of docking options, according to Raymond E. Graziotto, president of Loggerhead Marina, the operational partner in the joint venture.

“Concrete marginal docks and flexibility in power location and voltage allows us to accommodate every vessel size and configuration,” Graziotto said.

Therefore, the total number of yachts will vary, Edelman said.

“If the average yacht is 150 feet, we can take 16; if the average is 100 feet, we can fit as many as 24,” Edelman said. “The purpose is for big boats that have no other place to go. When a yacht is over 100 feet, the options drop off the map quickly.”

Workers and machinery are on site as upland and seawall are being built, but an opening date has not been announced.

“All of the underground water, drain and fire infrastructure is in, and the building for the dockmaster office has started,” Edelman said. “One hundred sheet pilings are in for the seawall, and we poured the first seawall cap.”
The property, using the working name of Dania Beach Megaport, is at the west end of the Dania Cut-off Canal, across from MarineMax and Derecktor Florida, and west of Harbor Towne Marina.
