Ocean 1 announces new tenders

Sarasota, Florida-based Ocean 1 recently announced the launch of its Hull No. 4, as well as contracts for hulls No. 6 and No. 7.

Hull No. 4 is tender to M/Y Beothuk, a 102-foot (31m) expedition yacht launched by Kuipers in 2008.

Hulls No. 6 and No. 7 are intended to play specific roles aboard two 226-foot (69m) Damen shadow vessels, according to the company. Equipped with Furuno’s Waasp System, they’ll map the bottom and broadcast directly to the mother ship charting system. They will also assist operations of two submarines that will be carried aboard each shadow boat.

“When spending much of one’s time at sea, we often think of center consoles deployed as yacht tenders functioning primarily for passenger ferrying,” Capt. Dean Maggio, founder of Ocean 1, stated. “The owner contracting hulls No. 6 and No. 7 thoroughly understands the full extent of Ocean 1’s performance and comfort capabilities, as he now owns three vessels I’ve designed and built for him.”

According to Ocean 1, the custom tenders represent a new perspective on the classic center console. They feature deep-V hulls for a fast, smooth ride in all conditions; high bulwarks to keep passengers dry; an intimate forward sun lounge for two; ample equipment storage, including a pull-out ice chest and live bait well; and a standup head with clearance of 6-foot-7.
