Those are some of the stats from the second annual Marine Industry Job Fair (, which will take place Nov. 5 from 1-7 p.m. at the Greater Fort Lauderdale-Broward County Convention Center. And two new partnerships will help even more people, including veterans, find jobs.

The Marine Industries Association of South Florida will host the job fair this Thursday, the first day of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The region’s marine industry generates more than 110,000 jobs in Broward County and 136,000 in South Florida. The job fair will feature leading marine industry companies, representing commercial and recreational positions including skilled trades, sales, administrative and crew as well as educational opportunities.

MIASF has partnered for the first time with United Way of Broward County’s Mission United program to help find jobs for veterans, who often have the skills, training and discipline that would enable them to excel in the marine industry but struggle to find civilian jobs. Also for the first time, MIASF has partnered with Soundings Trade Only, a leading marine trade publication, which has agreed to post participating companies’ job openings on its popular online job board. This unique opportunity to expand the reach of thejob fair will broaden its scope by helping the companies reach additional markets.

Participants include Tradesmen International, High Seas Yacht Service, Parker Yachts, Maritime Professional Training, MarineMax, RPM Diesel, TowBoatUS, Crew Unlimited, Bradford Marine, Thomas Marine Systems, Pantropic Power, Nauti-Tech, Reverse Osmosis of South Florida, Flagship Management, Loggerhead Marina, Jerry’s Marine Service, Mendol USA, Frank & Jimmie’s Propeller, Craftsman’s Guild, Advanced Mechanical Enterprises, Island Marine Electric, Whiticar Boat Works, Professional Yacht Master Training, Yacht Broker Institute, International Yacht Restoration School, Broward Technical Schools, CareerSource Broward, Broward College and more.

The convention center is at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Parking is available onsite or at War Memorial Auditorium (parking fees apply). A valid photo ID is required for entry. Attendance is free.

The Marine Industries Association of South Florida, created in 1961, is a nonprofit trade organization dedicated to promoting, protecting and growing the region’s $11.5 billion marine industry, which generates 136,000 associated jobs.  The association has more than 500 members in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties and owns the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
