I just got off a boat called M/Y Casual Water after being on it for a couple of months. The captain is John Greenwood.
The reason I am letting you know all this is because after working in the industry and feeling rather sad about the way we treat the waters with our lack of recycling, etc., I was very happy to see Capt. Greenwood make all the crew have their own reusable bottles. He did not allow anyone to drink from a plastic bottle that would just be thrown away to join the great plastic soup in the Pacific.
We also used cloth towels to clean the counters instead of paper towels and recycled everything from wine bottles to magazines. I have never been on a boat so aware of taking care of our planet.
After working on Casual Water I felt I could continue working in the industry with my head held high and know we can all make a difference to our beloved Earth. Thank you, Capt. Greenwood.

There is a product called JAWS- "Just Add Water System". It is a full line of cleaners; glass, degreaser, bathroom (heads), and a disinfectant cleaner. This system uses concentrated refills and re-usable spray bottles. When the bottle is empty you just fill with tap water, insert a 10ml refill cartridge, screw on the sprayer and have 32oz of ready to use cleaner! One bottle comes with two refills (three bottles worth), then you just buy the refill packs.
How many empty cleaner bottles does the average yacht toss out?
This product will save your boss money, the crew LOTS of space, and keep a lot of plastic out of the landfills.
What a great tip. Thanks for sharing that. Where can you get this product? And more importantly, does it work?
These products work extremely well. The parent company of JAWS has been formulating and manufacturing commercial cleaners since 1965.
Ask your marine supplier / chandler for JAWS Concentrated Cleaners. Go to endeavormarine.com for more info.
Last month, I've touched the topic about plastic disposal as well recycling and I guess this is a good practice. For now, I am doing my latest research topic about tax cuts by Bush. Tax cuts by Bush were the number one concern for Monday’s Congress conversation. Congress had just come back from five weeks of vacation. Congress is not expected to do much thinking about in about four weeks, campaigning for mid-term elections will be the priority of most lawmakers. Repealing the Tax cuts by Bush is the suggestion Democrats have made. This would be excluding everyone who makes $250,000 a year or more. Unless the Tax cuts by Bush will be there for everybody, Republicans will refuse to vote for it. A typical Congressional stalemate is what looks to be occurring. We see some selfish decisions being made by House Minority Leader John Boehner. He explained that as long as he nevertheless got the tax cut, he’d vote cutting regulations and tax breaks on the rich.
