KVH adds C-band coverage

KVH Industries added global C-band coverage to the mini-VSAT Broadband network and introduced the dual-mode, 1-meter TracPhone V11 C/Ku-band terminal.

The TracPhone V11 has a smaller antenna and the ability to automatically switch to Ku-band service and Ku-band coverage, to avoid regulations restricting the use of C-band maritime terminals near coastal nations.
The TracPhone V11 was granted U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval, including a provision to allowthe system to be used on vessels smaller than 300 gross tons, the limit for competing U.S.-licensed maritime C-band systems). The phone uses a 3-axis antenna and features an integrated IP-enabled antenna control unit.

In other news KVH Industries introduced an onboard terminal for the TracPhone V7-IP. It features a 3-axis, gyro-stabilized antenna and integrated belowdecks unit an ArcLight spread spectrum modem and IP-enabled antenna control unit.
