City marina honored

St. Augustine Municipal Marina has been named Florida’s second Clean and Resilient Marina by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. It is the first public marina to earn the designation.

The marina has implemented best management practices that achieve an additional level of resilience, sustainability and environmental responsibility that contribute to emergency preparedness and response.

The Clean and Resilient Marina Initiative is a Gulf of Mexico Alliance (GOMA) project among the states of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas that calls for the promotion and expansion of resilient and environmentally responsible operations and best management practices at marinas. This helps promote marinas that can bounce back quickly from both natural and man-made disasters.
