Turkish yard plans mini-series based on new build

Turkish shipyard Alia Yachts has delivered the custom-built, 102-foot (31m) Virgen del Mar VI to its owner.

The full-displacement yacht is 235 gross tons with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Features include a 50-square-meter fly deck behind a raised pilothouse. There is a 22.5-square-meter master stateroom on the main deck and four guest cabins (two doubles and two singles) on the lower deck.

The yacht’s exterior was designed by Dutch studio Omega Architect, while the interior was designed by U.K.-based Redman Whiteley Dixon.

Although Alia Yachts has focused on custom production to date, its president, Gökhan Çelik, stated that enthusiastic reception of the Virgen del Mar VI by owners and brokers has persuaded the yard to expand the technical platform into a mini-series.

Virgen del Mar VI started as a one-off project, but we have letters of intent to build further units with fully customizable interiors,” Çelik stated. He said the yard also is developing a 121-foot (37m) and 164-foot (50m) version based on the same platform.

Virgen del Mar VI is the 10th delivery for the shipyard since it was founded in 2008 by Çelik and his business partner Ömer Koray. The yard includes its own furniture factory, which has expanded to supply bespoke interiors to other yards as far away as Australia, according to Çelik.
