Cleaning up the waterway

Mar 4, 2019 by Lucy Chabot Reed

The Triton took advantage of Demo Day at Nautical Ventures to get out on the water and help clean up our lifeblood as part of the 42nd annual Waterway Cleanup. More than 1,400 people volunteered to dig about 35 tons of trash from waterways and coastlines around the area.

The canal behind Nautical Ventures’ new superstore in Dania Beach is a beautiful oasis amid a pulsing shopping and traffic area, with surprisingly little trash. And on Demo Day, there was a tour courtesy of Luke Svanberg, head of retail for the water toy company.

Kudos to the 4Ocean team for digging out the old grocery cart that wouldn’t fit on our paddle board. Photos by Luke Svanberg and Lucy Reed
