Update March 3

Sailor Dan Lenard made it to the United States this morning (March 3) after more than a month at sea in a 33-foot sailboat. His solo sail, without electronics or a motor, was made to share an environmental message about the health of the world’s oceans.

Lenard arrived at Pier 66 Resort and Marina in Fort Lauderdale. He is scheduled for several interviews including with Between Two
Yetis and the 1000 Mermaid Project and will receive the key to the city of Fort Lauderdale from the mayor on March 6 at 9 a.m.

Dan Lenard is on a mission to raise awareness about damage to the world’s waters and he is going about it the hard way.

The solo sailor crossed the Atlantic Ocean on a 33-foot sailboat with no instruments – no engine, no electronics, no GPS, no compass, and no sextant.

He set sail like Christopher Columbus from Cadiz, Spain, on Jan. 20 and made landfall a month later in Antigua. Now he is expected in Fort Lauderdale this weekend and hopes to meet supporters and media who will share his message, according to his public relations contact Angela Ćirović.

To meet Lenard at Pier Sixty-Six Hotel and Marina (2301 SE 17th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316) or to follow his journey and message, search Vela Code on social media or visit vela-code.com.
