Newport19: Crew bring the sunshine to rainy Newport show

Jun 25, 2019 by Triton Staff

Yacht crew from more than 20 charter vessels shined through a rainy and misty Newport Charter Yacht Show last week at Newport Shipyard.

Several competitions highlighted crew skills throughout the week. Chefs created masterful dishes from a mystery basket to represent the theme of luxurious sustainability. Interior crew showed their creative side with lovely tablescapes, designer water and cocktail competitions. Crew competed in fitness and seaman skills, and brokers learned more about the yachts and their crew during lunches and yacht hops.

Yachts in the show ranged in size from M/Y Time For Us, a 150-foot Delta, to M/Y Asturias, a 63-foot Nordhaven. This year, the show also included the 141-foot schooner S/Y Columbia, a replica of the 1923 Gloucester, Massachusetts, racing/fishing schooner.
