Six yacht chefs and their crew carried coolers, insulated bags, and canvas totes through the rain for judging for the Chef Competition during the Newport Charter Yacht Show at Newport Shipyard last week.
Chef Abigail Paulik of M/Y Enterprise was awarded first place for her New England take on shrimp and grits. She served a creamy polenta with seared black sea bass with Jonah crab in chili lemon sauce and a snap pea pesto, garnished with bowfin caviar, snap peas and crab in chili oil.
Second place went to Chef Rio Alexander of M/Y Endeavor and third place to Chef Mike Smith of M/Y Time for Us.
Other competitors included Chef Steve Anderson of M/Y Carpe Diem, Chef Isaac Provo of S/Y Columbia, and Chef Ian Gabbe of M/Y Renaissance.
