Young Professionals in Yachting raised more than $5,000 for the Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Fort Lauderdale on Friday with its first Spin for a Cause event.

Hosted by CycleBar, the high-energy event was led by spin instructor Janine St. Denis, marketing manager at Northrop & Johnson. Various companies put together teams to spin, including Bradford Marine, Datum, Pantropic Power, Lauderdale Marine Center, IYBA, Oversea Yacht Insurance, Fort Lauderdale Mariner’s Club, Pierson Grant, Denison, and The Triton.

Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center is a not-for-profit organization that serves more than 11,000 children with special health care needs in Broward County.

Spin for a Cause takes over for the popular Spin-a-thon, the six-hour spin event started by the group that would become the Marine Industry Cares Foundation (MICF). That event lasted nine years, with its final ride in April 2018. That event raised more than $750,000 over the years for Kids in Distress and CDTC.
