The 182-foot M/V Pacific Hope left the Dominican Republic on Sept. 5 to head toward the northern Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian hit. Upon arrival in Freeport, Grand Bahama late on Sept. 8 the more than 40 volunteers and crew began to cook and distribute hot food, water, and supplies to hundreds of people throughout the island with four wheel drive vehicles. On Grand Bahama, they have set up a warehouse and distribution center in High Rock which is unable to be accessed without a 4-wheeled vehicle.

To the north on the island of Grand Cay, M/V Pacific Hope’s crew has provided a medical team, repaired a house to use as a clinic and has a team of eight staying on the island to provide medical care.

“Our clinic is servicing the entire island, because all medical staff had excavated,” a WhatsApp note from M/V Pacific Hope stated.
