CNI partners with Mission Blue

Camper & Nicholsons has recently created a partnership with Mission Blue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ocean conservancy.

Sylvia Earle, president and chairman of Mission Blue, is an acclaimed author, explorer, scientist and lecturer who has dedicated her life to saving and restoring the ocean. The first female chief scientist at the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Earle has led more than 100 ocean expeditions, dived deeper in the sea than any other woman, started her own company to assist scientists in ocean exploration, and spent more than 7,000 hours underwater, according to a company press release. She is part of the group Ocean Elders, which is dedicated to protecting the ocean and its wildlife, and is featured in the Emmy-winning Netflix documentary “Mission Blue.” She holds a doctorate in phycology, the study of algae.

“We must make peace with the natural world, and soon,” Earle stated. “Marine Protected Areas, or ‘Hope Spots’ as we call them at Mission Blue, are to the sea what national parks are to the land. They’re sources of restoration, sources of hope. We are honored to team up with Camper and Nicholsons to get more people in the yachting world tuned into what is needed to restore the health of the ocean, the blue heart of the planet. No blue, no green. No ocean, no us. Now is the time.”

Camper & Nicholsons, founded in 1782 as a construction shipyard, specializes in the sale, purchase, charter, marketing, management and construction of yachts.
