About 200 crew gathered before dawn on Saturday to catch the live telecast of the Rugby World Cup finals game between South Africa and England. Coconuts restaurant opened early to make room for the event.
“We always knew it was going to come on at 5 a.m. and that crew had to be on station at 8, so we wanted it as close to the show as we could,” said Tim Davey of Global Marine Travel, who hosted the event. “Elliot [Wolf, owner of the restaurant company,] hired a few big television screens and projectors and made it happen.”
Of course, the event was organized months ago when Davey’s beloved All Blacks from New Zealand were expected to be in the finals.
“Yeah, but we had to follow through,” he said with a shrug.
