Online training for aspiring crew

Oct 5, 2021 by Triton Staff

Ocean International Training Academy (O.I.T.A) is an online school founded by Hannah Ferrier and Anastasia Surmava, former cast members of the Bravo reality TV show Below Deck Mediterranean. The focus of the school is to help those who are looking to make a career jump on board yachts for the very first time.

O.I.T.A has interior- and deck-specific courses, with five modules each. These modules cover everything that will help new crew feel confident when stepping onto their first yacht. The training includes video calls with the owners and industry professionals to help answer any questions crew trainees may have along the way.

The deck modules were created by Chief Officer Wesley Walton, also a former cast member of Below Deck Mediterranean, and include: Introduction and Definitions, Basic Navigation Principles, Seamanship and Meteorology, Safety and Security, and Deck Maintenance and Operations.
