All Hands on Deck competition at MYBA Charter Yacht Show

A new competition for the 2018 MYBA Charter Show for the deck crew to show off their entertainment and creative skills to the attending brokers.

The new trends in the charter market show an increased client interest in water toys and other fun equipment, and as we all know a vast array of toys goes a long way in getting that contract signed. But those toys have no life of their own: it takes the soul and spirit of a great crew to ensure that clients will have the time of their life, often overcoming technical, timing and weather obstacles.
During previous editions of the MYBA Charter Show, chefs and interior staff have been able to show their talents at the Chefs’ and Tablescaping competition. In 2018, deck crew will have their chance to shine too!

THE CHALLENGE
You are anchored in a Mediterranean bay where the use of power watercraft is forbidden (using the tender for going ashore is allowed). The sea is flat, the sun is shining, there is a good breeze, but the yacht will have to stay in the bay for the whole day.
The charter party consists of 10 guests in total as follows: 5 adults (one of which is over 70 year old), 3 teenagers and 2 x 8 year olds. How would you organise the fun activities throughout the day, to ensure that all members of the party participate and enjoy themselves?
You can present your proposals in any way or format you feel appropriate: using videos, photos or an oral presentation. The length of the presentation should not exceed 10 minutes.

THE PROCEDURE
3 size categories, with different judging days, will be created:
Yachts under 39 m – Monday 23rd April, from 16:00 to 17:00 h
Yachts between 40 and 55 m – Wednesday 25th April, from 16:00 to 17:00 h
Yachts 65 m and over – Tuesday 24th April, from 16:00 to 17:00 h

A maximum of 7 yachts per category will be accepted, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The jury will consist of a small panel of retail brokers, who will be judging based on the following criteria:
• Originality
• Resourcefulness
• Flexibility
• Toy & equipment presentation
• Innovative ideas
• Environmental consideration
• Team effort

THE CONTACT DETAILS
Please encourage your deck crew to register for this brand new competition. Applications to be sent to: marta@mybashow.com
Note: We expect a moderate turnout this first edition, but would like to make this a regular at the MYBA Shows, in order to give deck & technical crew their chance to shine.
