This year marks the 24th annual Plywood Regatta, a two-day event where middle, high school and college students will attempt to build sea-worthy vessels on Saturday, using simple hand-tools and only the supplied materials of plywood, 3M 5200 fast cure caulk and zip ties.

On Sunday, come watch as the students compete in a fun-filled and friendly rivalry when the finished boats line up and race in a series of heats to determine which boats actually are seaworthy and which boats exude that sinking feeling.

All proceeds from the Plywood Regatta, organized by the Marine Industries Association of South Florida, benefit South Florida’s marine industry education programs and the Plywood Regatta Scholarship Fund.
