Are you curious about how unions could help you? Nautilus International, a trade union and professional organization for maritime professionals, is hosting an open webinar for yacht crew on Friday, September 13, at 6 a.m. EDT.
The webinar will discuss the full range of legal services and protections crew are entitled to if they join the union. It will be presented by Charles Boyle, director of legal services, and supported by Nautilus’s yacht team.
According to the Nautilus International site, “Our cross-boundary nature and our combined membership give Nautilus International unparalleled knowledge, insights, and influence in the maritime sector at national and global levels, as we are represented at a range of maritime decision-making bodies, forums, and training institutions.”
In recent years, Nautilus International has been instrumental in recovering £1.3 million in unpaid wages and benefits in the superyacht sector in 2023, following the recovery of £2.75 million in 2022. Their efforts included securing one year of back pay for the crewmembers of M/Y Alfa Nero, who were let go from the vessel during its seizure in Antigua in 2022.
