Bluewater Books and Charts welcomed industry and crew to its 40th anniversary celebration on Oct. 17 at its Fort Lauderdale location. Hundreds RSVPed to attend, bringing their good vibes and outstanding Miami Vice-themed costumes to party in style and to celebrate Bluewater’s phenomenal 40 years as a mainstay of the South Florida yachting industry. Bluewater, which supplies navigation resources to the large yacht, commercial, and recreational maritime sectors, also offers a range of navigation services and can help yachts remain compliant with the latest regulations and standards. With live music courtesy of the Shane Duncan Band, delicious food and drinks, and excellent giveaways, the Bluewater event had everything partygoers could ask for — including a philanthropic mission. Proceeds from the event’s ticket sales are going to benefit Yachtie Minds Matter, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing funding for therapy and mental health resources for yacht crew. It was founded in 2024 by Capt. Kelly Gordon, who is working to raise awareness and funds for mental health in the yachting industry. As Capt. Gordon shared during the event, ticket sales raised just over $5,000 for Yachtie Minds Matter. "It was amazing that Bluewater Books & Charts donated the proceeds from their 40th Anniversary event to Yachtie Minds Matter, a true testament to putting your money where your mouth is and showing up for crew welfare,” Capt. Gordon said. “Plus, the generosity shown by attendees at the Bluewater celebration was inspiring. To see everyone come together like that reinforces how deeply our industry cares about the mental well-being of crew worldwide. This isn’t just a donation, it’s a powerful statement that we stand together and no one in yachting has to face their challenges alone.” Check out more photos from the event
