The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) is known for its impressive yachts, but this year, some of its most intriguing attractions are taking visitors beyond the docks and into the sky.
Draak: From Luxury Yacht to Research Vessel
At 305 feet, Oceanco’s Draak is expected to be the largest yacht at FLIBS 2026. Originally delivered in 2014 as Equanimity and later renamed Tranquility, the vessel has undergone a transformation under owner Gabe Newell, co-founder of the video game company Valve. Now serving as a research and exploration support yacht, Draak features a dedicated dive center, a hyperbaric chamber, and medical facilities.
FLIBS by Helicopter
Wave Helicopters, in collaboration with Wings Air Helicopters, is offering private charter arrivals at an on-site landing zone near Pier Sixty-Six, along with 10-minute sightseeing flights above Fort Lauderdale’s waterways and yacht-filled marinas. The scenic flights accommodate up to five passengers and cost $600 per flight. A new Robinson R44 helicopter will also be on display.
Pivotal’s Helix: The Future of Yacht Toys?
Silicon Valley aerospace company Pivotal is bringing its Helix aircraft to FLIBS. The single-seat, all-electric aircraft takes off and lands vertically, cruises at 62 mph, and has a maximum range of 20 miles. Classified as an ultralight, it doesn't require a pilot’s license under applicable FAA rules. Check it out at Booth 1085B.
Between a research-ready superyacht and two very different ways to take to the skies, FLIBS offers plenty to see beyond the traditional boat lineup.
