Yachtie Minds Matter (YMM), the nonprofit founded by Capt. Kelly Gordon and dedicated to supporting mental health in the yachting industry, launched the “Lifeline Fund,” a funding initiative to help the organization continue providing yacht crew with access to therapy and mental health support. The crew lifestyle, while offering its own benefits, can be demanding due to long hours and high stress. Capt. Gordon’s goal is to address these challenges by providing financial assistance for therapy, confidential intake for mental health services, and access to a network of professionals who understand the unique demands of the yachting industry. YMM strives to eliminate financial and logistical barriers that often prevent crew from seeking help. The demand for services has exceeded donations, however, so the Lifeline Fund ensures that “every dollar raised goes directly to mental-health sessions and resources” for crew in need. “No crewmember should have to face their struggles alone,” Gordon said. “Mental health is just as important as physical health, and with the Lifeline Fund, we hope to continue our work, ensuring everyone in this industry has access to the care they deserve.” You can help by spreading awareness and donating.
