Northrop & Johnson Inspires the Future of Yachting

Northrop & Johnson, a leading global yacht brokerage, invited the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County to their facilities and donated a scholarship to the youth-focused organization.

Northrop & Johnson (N&J) invited high school seniors from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County to explore their office and marina facilities on July 18 — hoping to inspire the youth toward career opportunities within the yachting industry. The high school seniors, who plan to actively search for future career opportunities post-graduation, received a guided tour of Lauderdale Marine Center and detailed learning sessions.

Northrop & Johnson is committed to fostering a spirit of curiosity and ambition among young minds, and we believe that exposing them to the dynamic world of yachting can ignite their passion for unique and fulfilling career paths,” said Daniel Ziriakus, president and COO of Northrop & Johnson.

The event gave the Boys & Girls Clubs members a special look into a variety of departments, including charter retail, yacht management, crew services, and marketing. N&J representatives shared their unique experiences, answered any questions the seniors had, and provided a glimpse into what a career in the maritime industry looks like.

The collaboration between N&J and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County stems further than just the event at the brokerage’s facilities, as N&J will donate one scholarship to one Boys & Girls Clubs member who wants to attend the beginner’s program at Maritime Professional Training (MPT). The scholarship recipient will become certified and eligible to apply for various positions in the industry after graduating high school. N&J hopes to provide additional funding and education each year by expanding the program.
