World’s Only Wellness-First Yacht Announced

Jan 23, 2025 by Kevin Maher

Dutch Design, a marine innovation studio that merges cutting-edge technology with holistic living, announced their first project — The Sea Rover. Founded by Scott Blum and led by award-winning naval designer Bernd Weel, Dutch Design’s Sea Rover is their plan for the world’s only wellness-first yacht. Blum, a yacht owner, has had a desire to create a vessel that fits this description after spending decades on the water.

The Sea Rover will be a limited-edition yacht, with just 10 produced. Made of solid steel and aluminum, the vessel will be 42.5 meters and includes features like an expansive spa, fully equipped gym, and an adaptable sports court. Rather than being tucked away below the yacht, these amenities will be on the bridge deck of the Sea Rover. As a result, guests will have a 360-degree view of the sea during their workouts, yoga sessions, and spa experiences.

“I’ve seen firsthand the demand for a new lifestyle at sea, one that encourages activity and wellness. Sea Rover is for the owner who likes to wake up and jump in the water; works out, goes diving, uses all the toys,” Blum said. “It’s integrating travel with total well-being–something that has never been done before on a boat. For those who become owners, this is a tremendous investment that will hold its value over time.”

While physical activities are highlighted in the yacht’s build, so is eating well. The galley and the dining room are positioned adjacent to one another to encourage interaction between the chef, crew, and guests, with the galley stocked with top-of-the-line appliances. The Sea Rover will have room for nine crewmembers on board, with Blum requesting each crew cabin to be created with the same premium standards as the guest cabins.

“There was no timeline when we were creating Sea Rover. We looked at the details several times during the design process, and we made them better on each iteration,” Weel said. “We really focused on what is valuable and needed on board to create a design that is super clean, classic, Dutch and will stand the test of time.”
