Two yachts were destroyed, another was damaged, and one person died after a storm in Cyprus on Saturday, Aug. 29. The yachts were anchored off the coast of Agioi Anargyroi in Cape Greco and ran aground on rocks due to the storm and waves. The Larnaca Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRC) responded to the incident and rescued six people from the water.

Dimis Mavropoulos, 76, was identified as the person that was reported dead upon arrival at the Famagusta General Hospital. He is succeeded by his wife and daughter, who were also rescued. The JRC announced that three of the rescued guests were not hospitalized while two remain hospitalized.
