Australia’s Bonds Flying Roos claimed victory in the latest SailGP matchup, which took place over the past weekend in Auckland’s Waitematā Harbor for the second event in the 2026 Rolex SailGP Championship. Strong winds forced the event to adopt a split-fleet format for the first time, with the competing teams divided into two groups for four split-fleet races, followed by a three-boat final. Racing was not without drama after a day one on-water collision between New Zealand Black Foils and DS Automobiles SailGP France that sent two athletes to the hospital. Racing was abandoned for the day and both teams had to withdraw. New Zealand’s Louis Sinclair and France’s Manon Audinet were both admitted to hospital, but the teams issued statements that both athletes are stable and recovering. Windy conditions saw the teams reach speeds in excess of 90 kilometers per hour during the final race, with Emirates Great Britain claiming second place and Spain’s Los Gallos taking third. The result means Australia has now overtaken Emirates Great Britain in the overall standings, with both teams tied on points (19 each). The SailGP season leaderboard has Bonds Flying Roos in first place, Emirates Great Britain in second, and DW Automobiles Team France in third. The next event takes place in Sydney on Feb. 27 and 28.
