MarineMax is helping two families in Oldsmar, Florida, become homeowners through its partnership with Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit that helps people build and improve homes. “We are so proud of our partnership with Habitat for Humanity,” said Brett McGill, CEO of MarineMax, in a press release. “At MarineMax, we are passionate about giving back to the communities we serve. Seeing the impact, we are able to create with our partnership, and watching these families work toward making their homeowner dreams come true is truly meaningful.” Each year, MarineMax employees volunteer alongside future homeowners, Habitat staff, and other volunteers to help build homes. This year, MarineMax celebrated the dedication of homes for the Peterson and Spiegel families. Ashley Spiegel, a single mother of two, had spent years living with family while struggling with rising rent costs. “This isn’t just a house,” she said, “it’s our forever — our story — and a place where we can make memories without ever leaving them behind.” Alison and Colbourne Peterson, who have been raising their four children in a 900-square-foot home shared with Alison’s parents, also received a home through the program. After learning they had been accepted into Habitat's program, the family said they were grateful for the opportunity. “We never imagined we’d have the chance to own a home, let alone learn so much about how to maintain it,” they said. Through its partnership with Habitat for Humanity, MarineMax has helped dedicate more than 10 homes to date.
