The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) has confirmed that the 305-foot M/Y Draak will attend this year’s show, taking place Oct. 28 through Nov. 1, where it is currently set to be the largest yacht on display. The 93-meter Oceanco project was recently delivered to Gabe Newell, who has rebuilt Draak to be a support vessel dedicated to scientific research, diving, and marine exploration.
Draak was originally delivered in 2014 under the name Equanimity and later known as Tranquility. The vessel has undergone a transformation, now featuring a dedicated dive center, a hyberbaric chamber, specialized equipment-handling capabilities, and medical facilities designed for expeditions around the world.
Draak’s appearance at FLIBS follows a showcase at the Monaco Yacht Show, where the yacht was accompanied by the 364-foot superyacht Leviathan.
“With Inkfish, we try to focus on being of service to the scientific community,” Newell said ahead of the Monaco Yacht Show. “We work with scientists to understand what’s helpful, then look at how our technology, tools and resources can best support their mission, whether that’s getting them to places they couldn’t otherwise reach, developing new technology or providing funding to remove barriers to their research.”
The yacht lineup is subject to change as the show gets closer.
