A new digital series highlights the marine businesses working to improve sustainability practices. The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) has partnered with Content With Purpose (CWP) to introduce “Oceans of Opportunity: A Change of Tide,” a digital series that highlights the marine industry’s vital role in tackling the sustainability challenges facing our oceans. In collaboration with CWP, the series explores various issues affecting the marine industry, including sustainable resource use, ocean conservation, and workers’ welfare. Oceans of Opportunity explores the sector’s solutions to global oceanic challenges through short films, expert interviews, and case studies. The interviews included insights from the IMO, Lloyd’s Register Marine and Offshore, IMarEST, and more, and is supported by The Mission to Seafarers, the U.K. National Clean Maritime Research Hub, The Sustainable Shipping Initiative, DEEP, Cargill, Global Maritime Forum, and The Department of Maritime and Transport Technology at Delft University of Technology, amongst others. “At the IMarEST, our community is at the heart of solutions,” said Chris Goldsworthy, chief executive, IMarEST. “With the help of Content With Purpose, we’re delighted to have this opportunity to share innovations from our industry, which will encourage meaningful change across the marine sector and beyond.” The series showcases innovations and strategies that industry leaders are adopting to advance environmental stewardship while maintaining operational efficiency. It encourages stakeholders to rethink conventional practices, focusing on key topics such as carbon-neutral shipping, low-impact technologies, and social responsibility in seafaring communities. “Our partnership with IMarEST on Oceans of Opportunity has been inspiring,” said Max Smith, managing director of Content With Purpose. “This series brings to light the bold steps the marine sector is taking to shape a sustainable future, offering real-world examples that we hope will empower others in the industry to act with purpose.” The series runs from December 2024 to February 2025.
