Two race records were set in the 3,000-nautical-mile 2026 RORC Transatlantic Race from Lanzarote to Antigua: the MOD70 Argo claimed multihull line honors and the 34-meter Baltic Yachts 111 Raven took monohull line honors. According to press releases from the RORC Transatlantic Race, MOD70 Argo, skippered by Chad Corning, set a record time of 4 days, 23 hours, 51 minutes, and 15 seconds when they arrived on Jan. 16, a new Multihull Race Record. “Think about how many boats have sailed from the Canaries to the Caribbean since Columbus in 1492,” MOD70 Argo crewmember Brian Thompson said about the victory. “To be the fastest ever to cross such a well-traveled route is pretty special.” “We knew it was going to be a close match race with our friends on Zoulou, and it was every bit of that,” Corning said. “We managed to get a small lead early on and just very slowly built it. They were hanging very tough the whole way and pushing incredibly hard behind us. It made for a frenetic pace from start to finish.” Raven, skippered by Damien Durchon, crossed the finish line off English Harbour on Jan. 18 after completing the crossing in 6 days, 22 hours, 27 minutes, 47 seconds — a new Monohull Race Record. Upon arrival, Raven was greeted by The Hon. Charles “Max” Fernandez, Antigua’s Minister of Tourism & Economic Development. Fernandez also presented the IMA Transatlantic Trophy to the vessel. Raven navigator Will Oxley, who also navigated Comanche to the monohull race record in the 2022 RORC Transatlantic Race to Grenada, commented that before the race, he would judge its success on three measures: boat condition, crew condition, and whether their time met Atlantic crossing benchmarks. “We achieved all three.
