The Super Sub from U-Boat Worx, the latest addition to its submersible fleet, has successfully completed sea trials and testing, earning full safety certification from DNV. “The Super Sub represents a major leap forward in personal submersible capability,” said Wilbert Beilsma, commercial director of U-Boat Worx. “Achieving DNV certification is a testament to the engineering excellence and dedication of our team. We’re entering a new chapter where private owners can explore the ocean at speeds once thought impossible.” Developed with safety at the forefront, the Super Sub incorporates a range of advanced engineering solutions. It delivers 100kW of horizontal thrust, reaches a top speed of nine knots, and has excellent maneuverability, including the ability to execute 45-degree inclines and declines. A “hyper-precise sonar system” continuously scans the seabed, allowing the submersible to autonomously adjust its trajectory and level out into a parabolic path before reaching depths of up to 300 meters. “This certification brings us one step closer to seeing the Super Sub in action,” said Roy Heijdra, head of marketing at U-Boat Worx. “It’s not just a submarine, it's an experience. The moment it dives, accelerates, and carves through the water at nine knots, people will understand what makes the Super Sub unlike anything on the market.” According to U-Boat Worx, DNV surveyors were involved throughout every stage of construction, with all components, processes, and systems being independently reviewed to ensure compliance with the highest standards for human safety, environmental protection, and vessel integrity.
